Candidates in 1st District will work for peace

While Michael Brennan’s distinguished career in public service is rich in specific accomplishments too extensive to include in a letter to the editor, his inspiration for achieving them can be stated succinctly.

Michael derives his inspiration and authority from his principles and values. He serves those principles and values, among them human dignity, social/economic justice, and peace, with courage and integrity. His felt sense that anything else is folly has attracted passionate supporters who know that supporting Michael is joining him to serve, not him or their own interests, but these principles and values.

Martin Luther King spoke of courage as an inner resolution to go forward despite obstacles. The source of this courage, King asserted, is conscience, ever asking the question: Is it right?

Informed and empowered by conscience, Michael Brennan has been a tireless champion for not what is safe, politic or popular, but what is right. Further, Michael’s legislative record attests to a competence unequalled in the primary field. The people of the 1st District deserve to know that they have such a candidate available in the in the Democratic primary.
