Final Note
June 24th, 2008 Posted in Campaign BlogAfter our final 13 hour day of campaigning, I wanted to just write and thank everyone for giving your time, money, energy, and heart to Michael’s campaign. While we had a third-place finish, I take heart in the fact that we spent less money per vote than any of our five opponents — a fact that is a testament to all the hard work of so many people.
Congratulations to Chellie Pingree. We hope that everyone who supported Michael will now commit themselves, as we have, to electing her to Congress this fall — Maine and our party will be lucky to have her.
Beyond the fall, the work for a New Direction in this country based on opportunity, community and peace will continue. And we look forward to continuing to stand with you to bring us closer to those values.
There is one last task we need help with for the campaign, and that’s removing our roughly 1500 yard signs from every corner of the district. Please drop an email to myself or Jen and let us know if you can do some of that in your area.
Thank you all.
In Solidarity and with deep gratitude,
Peter Asen
